My name is Julio Sotelo. I perceive excellence as the only option, an attitude which drives everything I do, even when I’m having fun. For instance: I won second place in Chicago’s Transamerican Triathlon last year and qualified for the US National Championship 2016.
To begin, I would like to highlight two previous work experiences:
Entrepreneur responsible for product delivery. I have engaged diverse quantitative projects, including:
- Design & development of a credit-scoring algorithm-using machine which ‘learns’ techniques for the largest mortgage provider in Mexico.
- Development of an algorithmic trading platform.
- Statistical testing of investment ideas in equities market.
- Lead design and development of various analytical systems.
R&D Manager of a financial structuring agency. I set and developed the backbone of the systems to manage a $4 billion portfolio of mortgage-related assets; in that context I led a team of software developers and risk analysts.
I hold a bachelor’s degree in Finance Management from Tec de Monterrey and a Master in Predictive Analytics from DePaul University.
